The Council for Economic Empowerment for Women of Africa-Uganda Chapter (CEEWA-Uganda) is a registered non-Governmental, non-partisan and not-for-profit organization working to promote the economic empowerment of women in Uganda. It was started in 1995 and legally registered in 1997 (Registration No. S. 5914/1947) with the aim of increasing the level of women’s access to and control over economic resources for development.

  • Enhance the capacity of decision makers to integrate gender concerns in laws, policies and programmes relevant to economic empowerment of women.
  • Promote the growth of competitive women owned enterprises.
  • Provide a platform for women to interact and share experiences for their social, political and economic development.

Margaret Kakande

A founder member and current chairperson of CEEWA-Uganda. She is an economist, gender expert and an M&E consultant.

Zeridah Zigiti

She is the current board secretary of CEEWA-Uganda, an economist and an entreprenuer

Olivia Kayongo

She is the current treasurer of CEEWA-Uganda, an economist and a professional banker

Jane Mpagi

A founder member of CEEWA-Uganda and a board member without portfolio. She is a gender and social development expert.

Beatrice Mugambe

A founder member of CEEWA-Uganda and board member without portfolio. She is an accountability and governance expert

Agnes Yawe

A board member of CEEWA-Uganda, an expert in Program Development, Policy Advocacy, Transformational Leadership and Action Research.
